Called to Serve

"Now behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men. Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day. Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work; For behold the field is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not, but bringeth salvation to his soul; And faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God, qualify him for the work. Remember faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, diligence. Ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Amen."
Doctrine and Covenants Section 4

I'm not sure I could tell you the exact day I decided to serve a mission, my desire to serve definitely grew when the mission age was lowered from 21 to 19. I honestly believe that my desire to serve grew as my testimony grew. The more I learned about the gospel and my Savior, the more I wanted to share it with others. I still have so much to learn, but I have a testimony of this gospel and I know it brings true happiness, which is why I am willing to dedicate 18 months of my life to be in full-service of the Lord!

I submitted my mission papers 120 days before my 19th birthday and after waiting for what seemed like months (it was actually 10 days), I got the call from the Cannon Center that my mission call had arrived!

Dear Sister Wong,

You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Billings Montana Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 18 months.

You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, August 19, 2015. You will prepare to
preach the gospel in the English Language.

I was truly blessed to be surrounded by family and friends as I opened my call to serve. I am so grateful for all of the love and support I have received while preparing to serve! Initially I was SO surprised that I was going to Montana, honestly Montana had never crossed my mind. However,
I know that I am going where I am
needed.

I couldn't be more excited to share the gospel with the people in Montana. I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for me and He will be there to help me every step of the way! I am so grateful for this call to serve.
